Great Moments in Recent Southampton FC History (Part Three)

Now that we have a new first choice goalie, it seemed an appropriate time to reflect back on Artur Boruc’s great moments with Southampton FC.

After a fine start

He settled in
And then made one great play after another
Okay.  I know that this is completely unfair.  The first incident was really a nothing.  The second was a fluke and the third was stupid, but things happen.  But watching the two undeserved goals go in was very depressing.  My reaction was quite disturbing to my cat—especially the Arsenal one which caused me to stand up—pushing her off my lap.

Imagine a world where Boruc didn’t make these mistakes and we went on to finish third.  It would have been glorious.  Yeah.  I am bit delusional.  At most you can imagine a world where we picked up two to four more points, if these mistakes didn’t happen.

If I wanted to blame Boruc for ruining the seaon, this is the right link:

But, of course, players get injured.  This is a much fairer representation of Boruc’s season:
Clearly, without him we would not have finished eighth.  We probably would have finished aournd twelfth.  The rest of the team would, of course, have looked much weaker.  No one would have been willing to purchase our players at a fair price and we probably would have had to start this season with the same bunch of players as last year.
So no matter how you look at it, Boruc is to blame.
