Great Moments in Recent Southampton FC History (Part Four)
With the controversy over Rickie Lambert’s recent comments,
I thought it was time to do another one of these. This one really was a great moment. Even as an American who had only been a fan
of the team for 3 years and who had only been able to watch the games regularly
for one year, this was a special moment that literally (and I do mean that)
brought tears to my eyes.
And it could only have happened because of
Southampton. No established premier
league team would have wanted Rickie.
Most newly promoted teams would have assumed he couldn’t do the job and
replaced him—not unlike what we did with Sharp or Lee.
What has happened since changes nothing. The moment happened. It was real and special
and nothing can take that away from Rickie or us.
